COVID-19 Update

New Date. New Location. Same Mission.
Seems like COVID-19 is impacting everything these days and we didn’t want AWAKEN 2020 to feel left out. So, we’re making a few changes. Don’t worry, thousands of young adults from all over the world are still coming together to redefine church… just on a different weekend and at a different location. Yes, AWAKEN 2020 is officially moving to Labor Day weekend at Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas.

We’re sure you have tons of questions like “Does my ticket transfer?” and “But what if I can’t come Labor Day, can I get a refund?” We got you covered. The FAQs below explain it all.

Some may be asking: Are we bummed about this change? Our answers are… yes, no, and no.

Yes, because we have to wait three months longer to be together.
No, because we want everyone safe and healthy. Postponing and changing locations is the wisest course of action at this point.
No, because while we know this season has been painful and confusing in many ways, we’re grateful that God has used it to teach all of us that His Church never needed a building anyway. His Church was always meant to be defined as a people, not a place. And redefining church was the whole goal of AWAKEN 2020 anyway.

So, armed with our new definition of church, the question becomes: what’s next for us? See you Labor Day 2020 to find out.

I registered for AWAKEN when it was over Memorial Day, and I want to go to AWAKEN in September. What do I do?

Your registration will automatically transfer to the new date over Labor Day weekend. Easy. Your registration is already updated.

Can I get a refund if I can no longer come?

Already busy over Labor Day weekend? In our opinion, you should reconsider your plans. But if not, you weren’t the first of our generation to ask for a refund. Thankfully, since we’re largely run by a few millennials of our own, the answer is yes. Due to COVID-19, we’re extending our refund policy. A refund of 100% can be made on or before June 30 by emailing awaken@theporch.live and include your order number.

Is registration transferable?

All registrations are transferable (if you’d rather pass it to a not-so-busy friend). Just email us at awaken@theporch.live.

What should I do about the hotel I booked in Frisco near the Comerica Center?

Looks like hotels understand the situation too. The hotels we previously suggested on our website (Embassy Suites Frisco, Hilton Garden Inn Frisco, and Aloft Plano) are all allowing full refunds up to at least 48 hours prior to your previously planned check-in. For best results, we strongly encourage you to contact the hotel you booked directly to cancel. The Awaken Team will not cancel your booking on your behalf.

Now that AWAKEN is at Watermark Dallas, should I stay in a different hotel?

The old location (Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas) is about 20 minutes away from the new location (Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas). So, it’s ultimately up to you! But our recommendation is that you move the party closer to Watermark, so you don’t risk any FOMO. We’ve put together deals with hotels close to Watermark here.

Is the speaker lineup changing?

Maybe! But you don’t know who is speaking yet, do you? We have amazing speakers lined up that you are not going to want to miss. Brace yourself, because this conference will be about much more than great speakers – it’s about a generation of young adults coming together to redefine the way we think about church. Isn’t this whole pandemic already redefining the way we think about church? Let’s keep that train going! And now speakers have more time to make their content even better, right?

Is AWAKEN at Watermark a better move?

We’ll just say we wouldn’t be moving it if we didn’t think it was the best. After all, this is the home of The Porch! It’s not our first rodeo to host an in-house party and AWAKEN 2020 will be the best one yet.

What health and safety precautions will be taken?

Hey, we don’t want this virus as much as you don’t want it. Watermark has already enhanced the frequency of our cleaning procedures, cleaning common areas, and we’re continuing to use hospital-grade cleaning products.

What if COVID-19 is still an ongoing concern closer to Labor Day?

We’re committed to the health and safety of our staff and attendees. We’ll continue to exercise prudence and assess the situation into the summer. But the best information we have right now suggests that we’ll be good to go by Labor Day.

What if you didn’t answer my question?

We got you. Email us at awaken@theporch.live.
