JP brought it last week with his message on James 5:1-6. After this weekend I felt really convicted of both the message last Tuesday and what we heard from Afshin. My take away in a nutshell is found in the lyrics of a song we sang this weekend…
YOU CAN HAVE ALL THIS WORLD. JUST GIVE ME JESUS.
Whether it’s your chase of your big boy report card (aka your paycheck)…chase of the next bigger, better, faster things this world has to offer…chase of finding that special someone so you can change your Facebook status to "in a relationship", "engaged", or "married"...chase of making sure you are wearing all the name-brand clothes and have the most popular friends…at the end of the day none of that matters.
What matters is your right relationship with Christ. What matters is your understanding of the Gospel- that is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ- and how that completely changes the way you life your life tonight, tomorrow, and all the days to come. What matters is that when you believe this truth in your heart and confess it with your mouth you are saved, and you get to leverage everything in your life for God. Your life should reflect this belief...that's what matters.
Here are some big questions from this past week. I encourage you to spend some time really reflecting on these:
What are you doing with the things God has already entrusted you with?
Are you living out your faith so that you do not undercut your ability to witness?
Are you being influenced by this world or influencing this world?
What are you doing in your life that people see and say “man he must really believe”?
I 100% agree with what JP said last Tuesday “You will never feel so alive then when you allow Christ to use you.” Then Afshin said this weekend, “So often we bail out on God and we miss seeing what God has planned.” God is our greatest reward and we don’t need whatever it is that continues to take our eyes off of Him.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2
Praying for you all~
